All Set for Vote Counting at SKICC-Centaur for 8 Assembly Constituencies in Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 4 (KINS): With the vote counting for the eight Assembly Constituencies of Srinagar District scheduled for October 8, 2024, the District Election Officer (DEO) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, visited SKICC-Centaur to oversee the final preparations. He confirmed that all arrangements have been made as per the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines to ensure a seamless and transparent counting process.

During his visit, the DEO reviewed the security arrangements around the counting centers and inspected the setup inside the halls. “We are committed to ensuring a smooth, well-organized counting process. All technical setups, seating arrangements, and security measures have been thoroughly checked and finalized,” Dr. Bilal said.

The DEO also instructed officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply, water availability, stable internet connections, and proper media management. He stressed the importance of issuing entry passes and maintaining a strict security cordon around the strong rooms where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are stored under a three-layer security system.

“Transparency and accuracy are our top priorities,” Dr. Bilal emphasized, adding that the counting process will be conducted under video surveillance to uphold the integrity of the elections.

The EVMs, securely stored after the September 25 voting, will be transported to the counting halls, where results will be announced promptly. Dr. Bilal also interacted with officers, ensuring all arrangements, including CCTV surveillance and manpower training, are in place.

Returning Officers, various nodal officers, and the Deputy District Election Officer of Srinagar accompanied the DEO during his visit to the venue.

Meanwhile, in Shopian, District Election Officer Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar chaired a meeting at Mini Secretariat Shopian to review preparations for vote counting, also scheduled for October 8. The DEO instructed officers to strictly adhere to ECI guidelines and ensure smooth coordination among all stakeholders to guarantee an efficient counting process.(KINS)
