New Delhi, Oct 12: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) chief Wadhawa Singh and five other terrorists for the murder of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vikas Prabhakar in April this year.
Vikas Prabhakar, also known as Vikas Bagga, was shot dead by members of a BKI module at his confectionery shop in Punjab’s Roopnagar district on April 13, 2024. The chargesheet names Wadhawa Singh, along with two absconding and three arrested accused, as key conspirators in the assassination.
Among the arrested suspects are shooters Mandeep Kumar alias Mangli and Surinder Kumar alias Rika, both from Nawanshahr, Punjab. They have been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Arms Act, according to the NIA. The third arrested suspect, Gurpreet Ram alias Gora, has also been charged under the Arms Act.
The NIA uncovered a transnational conspiracy involving BKI operatives in Pakistan, Germany, and Dubai, who orchestrated the killing. Wadhawa Singh, currently in Pakistan, allegedly directed Harjit Singh alias Laddi and Kulbeer Singh alias Sidhu, both in Germany, to execute the attack. The investigation is ongoing, with roles of other international and India-based collaborators being examined.
The NIA took over the case from Punjab Police on May 9, 2024.
