Srinagar, Oct 19 (KINS): Srinagar is all set to host the first-ever Kashmir International Marathon tomorrow, with over 2,000 athletes, including international elite runners, expected to participate.
The highly anticipated event will see participants from 13 countries and elite athletes from 29 states and Union Territories across India.
News agency KINS reported that to ensure the safety and well-being of the athletes, a 20-bed medical camp has been set up at Polo View, where healthcare professionals will provide first aid and emergency treatment during the race.
The medical facility is equipped to handle any potential health issues faced by the runners, especially those competing in the grueling full marathon and half-marathon categories.
The marathon will feature two categories: a 42-kilometer full marathon and a 21-kilometer half-marathon.
Officials have confirmed that 59 international athletes are among those competing in this historic event, making it a landmark moment for sports in the Kashmir Valley.
The event is being held to promote fitness, encourage local participation in athletics, and highlight Kashmir as a destination for international sports events.
Authorities have made extensive security and logistical arrangements to ensure the marathon runs smoothly, with volunteers, medical teams, and law enforcement personnel stationed throughout the route.
