The CM also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was awarded the Bharat Ratna. Recalling his own experience of working alongside Vajpayee for three years, the CM emphasized Vajpayee’s desire for peace between India and Pakistan and a harmonious relationship with Jammu and Kashmir. “Whenever we remember Vajpayee, we remember his message of humanity, democracy, and Kashmiriyat. He always believed in these principles,” the CM said. Reflecting on Vajpayee’s belief that “we can change friends but not neighbors,” he expressed regret that following Vajpayee’s approach might have led to a better situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The CM also shared memories of Devender Singh Rana, a close colleague and dedicated worker who later joined the BJP. He expressed regret over not knowing about Rana’s illness sooner, as he would have liked to strengthen their relationship further.( KINS)
