Srinagar, Dec 05 (KINS): A two-day training programme on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was inaugurated today by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdi (IPS), at the Police Control Room (PCR) in Srinagar. The event was organized by the Zonal Police Headquarters (ZPHQ) Kashmir in collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Jammu & Kashmir.
In his opening address, IGP Kashmir emphasized the critical need for rigorous enforcement of the NDPS Act to curb the growing challenges of drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the region. He highlighted the importance of equipping law enforcement officers with specialized training to enhance their investigative acumen and promote innovative strategies to tackle the drug menace effectively.
V.K. Birdi called for collaborative and actionable measures to address the issue, urging officers to adopt a proactive approach in their fight against drug-related crimes.
The NCB team, led by Superintendent Raj Kumar Shah, provided detailed insights into advanced investigative techniques and best practices for handling NDPS cases. The workshop aims to build the capacity of law enforcement personnel through sessions, discussions, and hands-on training, focusing on legal and procedural aspects of drug-related investigations.(KINS)
