New Delhi, Jan 19 (KINS): A lively winter carnival was held today at the New Moti Bagh Club in New Delhi to mark Jammu & Kashmir Day, bringing together the rich cultural tapestry of the Union Territory.
The event was organized by the Resident Commission of Jammu & Kashmir in collaboration with the New Moti Bagh Residents Welfare Association (NMB-RWA), with significant contributions from Sudhanshu Pandey, President of NMB-RWA, and Dr. Rashmi Singh, Principal Resident Commissioner.
The venue exuded a captivating aesthetic ambiance, with visitors eager to capture the picturesque setting, which featured art from the renowned Sambhaav Utsav held at the Resident Commission in 2024.
Dr. Rashmi Singh expressed her joy at seeing the Sambhaav Utsav evolve into this vibrant carnival, while Sudhanshu Pandey conveyed his gratitude for this celebration of Jammu & Kashmir’s cultural richness. He emphasized that the event was a perfect reflection of the true spirit of the region.
The event showcased the region’s diverse heritage, with the crisp Delhi winter air filled with the tantalizing aromas of Kashmiri and Dogri cuisine. The culinary highlights included the iconic Wazwan thali for non-vegetarian food lovers, as well as an array of spicy vegetarian delights. The fragrance of freshly brewed Kashmiri Kehwa, infused with saffron, delighted the senses of all those present.
In addition to the delectable food, visitors were treated to a series of lively cultural performances, including Kashmiri, Dogri, and Pahadi folk dances, sponsored by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from local residents, including senior bureaucrats and their families. Artisans displayed exquisite Pashmina shawls, particularly the GI-tagged ones, along with intricately designed sarees, Pherans, and Papermachie artworks, drawing a large number of buyers and art enthusiasts.(KINS)
