Jammu, Jan 20 (KINS) Arun Gupta, spokesperson for the Jammu and Kashmir BJP, has strongly criticized the National Conference (NC)-led government for its alleged regional insensitivity and lack of urgency in addressing the ongoing medical emergency in Rajouri’s Badhal village. Gupta attributed the tragic loss of 17 lives to administrative negligence and infighting among coalition partners.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, Gupta, accompanied by BJP spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan and Media Secretary Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, expressed grave concerns over the government’s failure to respond effectively. “The first incident was reported on December 7, 2024, yet over 43 days later, the death toll has reached 17. The NC government’s callous approach compelled the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to intervene,” said Gupta.
He revealed that the central government, acting on the BJP’s request, had deployed an 11-member team to investigate the crisis and recommend remedial actions. “This regional insensitivity is unacceptable. The BJP will not allow the people of Rajouri to suffer due to the NC government’s apathy and regional biases,” Gupta declared.
Gupta pointed out the glaring inefficiency of the state’s healthcare apparatus. Despite having robust medical infrastructure and resources, the government has failed to contain the outbreak, which poses a severe risk of spreading to nearby villages. He criticized the Chief Minister for not visiting the affected region even once during the crisis.
“This lack of leadership has left the administration paralyzed, unable to take decisive action. If this outbreak spreads, it could become uncontrollable, and the NC government will bear full responsibility for the consequences,” Gupta warned.
Highlighting the political dysfunction, Gupta accused coalition partners of being preoccupied with internal disputes and counter-allegations instead of addressing critical issues. “The infighting among coalition partners has sidelined pressing emergencies like this medical crisis. If the coalition cannot function, it should not come at the cost of citizens’ lives,” he emphasized.
Gupta concluded by reiterating the BJP’s commitment to holding the NC government accountable and ensuring that the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir receive the attention and care they deserve.(KINS)
