Srinagar, Apr 21 (KINS): The Election Commission of India (ECI) has declared the final Electoral Rolls, published on January 6th and 7th, 2025 following the Special Summary Revision (SSR), as undisputed, citing minimal appeals and overwhelming acceptance from stakeholders across the country.
The SSR 2025 exercise—spanning 10.5 lakh polling booths and involving 13.87 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) nominated by political parties—covered 4,123 Assembly Constituencies nationwide. It has set a benchmark for transparency and inclusivity in the electoral process.
Notably, only a negligible number of First and Second Appeals were filed under Section 24 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, concerning corrections (Section 22) and inclusions (Section 23). This indicates a rare consensus across the political spectrum and the general public regarding the accuracy and fairness of the updated rolls.
The ECI highlighted that SSR 2025 was conducted with focused attention on States and Union Territories scheduled for Assembly Elections after the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, ensuring timely updates to voter data in these critical regions.
A representative from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer remarked,
“The lack of appeals following the publication of the electoral rolls is a testament to the transparency, inclusiveness, and robustness of the SSR process. With active participation from political parties through their Booth Level Agents, we are confident that the rolls reflect a high level of accuracy and public trust.”
