Slapping ‘PSA on MLA Mehraj Malik was wrong despite his mistake’, says Dr Farooq Abdullah

KINS Desk
Srinagar, Sept 11 (KINS): National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Thursday expressed concern over the situation in Doda and termed the detention of MLA Mehraj Malik under the “Public Safety Act (PSA) as wrong”.

Speaking to reporters, as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS), Dr Farooq Abdullah said the decision to slap “PSA” on Malik was a mistake.

“He has made a mistake in front of the DC. I feel sorry for that, but imposing a PSA was wrong. If he had apologized, the situation would not have worsened. Today, Doda is in trouble. On one hand, there are people’s grievances, and on the other, the administration’s decisions have complicated matters,” he remarked.

The NC chief emphasized that reconciliation and dialogue were the need of the hour.

“We must bring people back together, not push them away. It is the government’s responsibility to resolve tensions and restore confidence among the public,” he added. (KINS)
