Artificial limbs fitment camps empower differently abled persons across Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 12 (KINS): As part of its ongoing humanitarian initiatives in the Kashmir Valley, the Chinar Corps, in collaboration with the Jaipur-based NGO Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), popularly known as Jaipur Foot, organized a series of Artificial Limbs Fitment Camps for differently abled persons across multiple locations — Trehgam, Sharifabad, Anantnag, Shopian, and Srinagar.

The initiative aimed to empower individuals with disabilities and enhance their quality of life by providing them with free, customized artificial limbs and mobility aids. A specialized team of prosthetic technicians and medical experts from BMVSS assessed the needs of amputees and provided tailor-made artificial limbs to suit individual requirements.

During the course of this initiative, 54 beneficiaries were fitted with artificial limbs, while 1,753 differently abled persons received supportive mobility aids such as wheelchairs, crutches, and calipers.

Local residents and beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude to the Indian Army and BMVSS for organizing the noble outreach program, describing it as a meaningful step towards inclusion, empowerment, and dignity for persons with disabilities.

This initiative stands as a shining example of effective synergy between civil society and the Armed Forces, reaffirming their shared resolve to build a compassionate, inclusive, and self-reliant Kashmir. It also underscores the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to the cause of nation-building and community welfare.(KINS)
