RTO Kashmir declares Moulana Azad Road, Residency Road in Srinagar as ‘No e-Rickshaw Zones’

KINS Desk

Srinagar, Nov 20 (KINS): Regional Transport Office (RTO) Kashmir on Thursday declared Srinagar’s busy Moulana Azad Road and Residency Road as ‘No e-Rickshaw Zones’, barring operation of battery-operated rickshaws on the two prime stretches in the summer capital.

Officials said the decision has been taken in view of frequent traffic congestion and pedestrian rush in the commercial and office areas along these roads. They said e-rickshaws will no longer be allowed to ply on Moulana Azad Road and Residency Road, and enforcement teams have been asked to ensure strict implementation of the order.

The RTO according to news agency KINS has also appealed to e-rickshaw drivers to adhere to the new restriction and operate only on the routes permitted by the transport authorities. The move, according to officials, is aimed at streamlining traffic flow in the city centre and ensuring the safety of commuters and pedestrians. (KINS)
