J&K Police terms social media claims on Nowgam explosion ‘misleading’

Srinagar, Nov 20 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday issued a formal response amid various social media posts circulating about the accidental explosion at Police Station Nowgam, stating that the reports are “conjectures” aimed at misleading the public.

According to the response issued here, Jammu and kashmir Police said that the explosion took place on 14 November 2025 during the process of sample collection from a large cache of recovered explosives.

The procedure was being carried out by experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) when the accidental detonation occurred.

The response further clarified that the government has already set up a high-level committee on 16 November 2025 to investigate the incident. The committee is headed by the Principal Secretary, Home Department, and includes the IG Kashmir Zone, the District Magistrate Srinagar, and a senior scientist from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), Government of India.(KINS)
