Srinagar Nov 29 (KINS): Director SKIMS / EOSG, Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie, visited SKIMS Medical College to take stock of the situation on ground and assess the damages caused by the fire incident that occurred earlier. While the exact cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained, no casualties or injuries were reported.

Prof. Ashraf directed the Additional Director SKIMS, Zahoor Ahmad Dar, to constitute a high-level committee and submit a comprehensive report within five working days. He further instructed him to issue written directions to the Principal, SKIMS Medical College, to ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and implementation of all necessary precautionary measures.

During the visit, he also inspected various patient care and service areas, besides visiting the boys’ and girls’ hostels to obtain a first-hand assessment of the facilities and arrangements.

He instructed the concerned Engineering Wings, along with the Departments of Security and Fire Services, to adopt immediate preventive measures to avert such incidents in the future. He further emphasized the need for regular fire drills and sanitation drives to ensure robust safety protocols and cleanliness across the hospital and college campus.

It is pertinent to mention that the fire was swiftly contained to four faculty rooms, and timely intervention prevented the flames from spreading to adjoining facilities and other floors. (KINS)
