India advancing rapidly in AI, Quantum and deep-tech sectors: Dr Jitendra Singh

Jammu, May 08 (KINS): Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Friday said India is progressing rapidly in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technology, Semiconductors and Deep-Tech, with the country’s youth expected to play a key role in building a developed India by 2047.

Speaking after inaugurating the “Lakshya 2047” Centre for Future Skills, Cadaveric Centre and Advanced Medical Simulation facilities at Parul University in Gujarat, the Minister said the government is focusing on aligning higher education with future technologies and skill development.

He said the Centre, developed in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation, Ethnotech and Cambridge University Press and Assessment, will provide training and globally recognised certifications in several advanced technology fields.

Highlighting the progress under the National Quantum Mission and IndiaAI Mission, Singh said India has made major strides in secure quantum communication, innovation, startups and scientific research. He noted that the country now ranks among the top nations globally in startups, patent filings and scientific publications.

The Minister stressed the importance of continuous skilling and re-skilling in areas like AI, cybersecurity, quantum technologies and semiconductor design, adding that India’s large young population gives it a strong advantage to become a global skilled workforce hub.

He said the government has adopted a collaborative approach involving academia, startups and the private sector to strengthen innovation and research through initiatives such as the National Education Policy 2020, National Quantum Mission, IndiaAI Mission and Atal Tinkering Labs.

Emphasising responsible use of Artificial Intelligence, Singh said technology should benefit all sections of society, especially the vulnerable and underserved. He also highlighted the opening of India’s nuclear sector for greater private participation, including in nuclear medicine and healthcare technologies.

Calling upon the youth to contribute towards the vision of Viksit Bharat, the Minister said the present generation will lead India when the country completes 100 years of Independence in 2047.(KINS)
