Trump had no role in India-Pak ceasefire after Operation Sindoor: GoI

New Delhi, Dec 5: The Government of India told the Parliament that United States President Donald Trump played no role in the ceasefire between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor in May this year.

The ceasefire agreement, it said, was reached directly between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of the two countries.

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, stated that the ceasefire followed India’s strong diplomatic and military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

“India launched Operation Sindoor in response to the attack on civilians. Our armed forces carried out precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure across the border,” the Minister said.

He further informed the House that Pakistan’s DGMO contacted the Indian DGMO on May 10, 2025, seeking a cessation of firing and military operations along the Line of Control (LoC). “The proposal was accepted the same day, leading to the current ceasefire understanding,” Singh added.

Dismissing speculation about foreign mediation, the Minister categorically stated that the US President had no involvement whatsoever in the ceasefire discussions or the agreement between the two sides. (KINS)
