Mirwaiz Umar Farooq urges ethical media practices, expresses concern over viral video of minor
KINS Desk
Srinagar, July 3 (KINS): Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday called for responsible conduct by the media and social media users, stressing that those holding cameras and microphones carry a moral responsibility while reporting sensitive issues.
Addressing people at Jamia Masjid Srinagar, Mirwaiz said journalists, content creators, and social media users should uphold ethical standards and avoid content that could harm individuals, particularly children.
Expressing concern over a recent viral video involving a minor child, he urged media organisations and social media users to exercise restraint and sensitivity while sharing or reporting such incidents. He emphasized that the dignity, privacy, and welfare of children must be protected at all times.
Mirwaiz appealed for greater responsibility in the use of digital platforms, saying ethical journalism and responsible social media practices are essential to safeguarding the rights and well-being of vulnerable sections of society.
