MD & CEO interacts with trainees at J&K Bank’s Ladakh Football Academy

Srinagar, Jul 4: Reaffirming the Bank’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent and creating opportunities for young athletes to excel, J&K Bank MD & CEO Amitava Chatterjee interacted with the trainees and coaching staff of the Bank’s Ladakh Football Academy in Leh.

On the occasion, the MD & CEO also unveiled the official uniform of the academy in the presence of Chief General Manager Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, Zonal Head Ladakh Tsewang Dorjai, Special Secretary to MD Tanveer Hussain, AGM (Sports/Culture) Bilal Ahmad kuchhay, Cluster Head Tsewang Dorjay and other senior Bank officials.

Drawing upon his own experiences as a sportsperson during his formative years, Amitava Chatterjee highlighted the transformative role of sports in shaping character and building life skills. He said, “Sports instils discipline, physical fitness and keeps you focused on your goals. The discipline that you learn on the field must also reflect in your life beyond it. Sports also teaches you the importance of timing, perseverance, and commitment. Always respect your coach and value every lesson you receive, irrespective of the circumstances.”

“Talent alone is never enough. It must be refined through dedicated practice and proper guidance”, he added.

Reiterating the Bank’s long-term commitment towards the academy and its players, the MD & CEO said, “J&K Bank has established this academy to nurture your aspirations, and our support will not end here. If you dream of representing Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir or the country, we will stand firmly behind you in that journey. So never lower your ambitions. Aim high, keep improving with every training session and never become complacent with your achievements.”

Expressing confidence in the academy’s potential, he said, “I am hopeful that some of you will go on to represent the country. J&K Bank will always remain committed to playing the role of a catalyst in helping talented sportspersons succeed at the highest level.”

Speaking on the occasion, Chief General Manager Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat said that sports has emerged as a promising career avenue for the youth. He urged the trainees to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to the game and assured them of the Bank’s continued support in providing the necessary facilities and infrastructure required for their development.

Coach of the academy Ringzin Angdu expressed gratitude to the Bank’s management, particularly the MD & CEO, for their unwavering support and encouragement. He assured the gathering that the players would leave no stone unturned in their efforts to excel and bring laurels to the academy, the Bank, and the region.

Notably, the Ladakh Football Academy is J&K Bank’s third football academy after its successful academies in Kashmir and Jammu, both of which have produced outstanding footballers and brought laurels to the Bank as well as the Union Territory. Each academy trains 22 promising young footballers, providing them with professional coaching and a structured platform to develop their talent and pursue excellence in the sport.
