Bandipora, July 31 (KINS): The District Administration Bandipora on Friday organized a ‘Swachhta 50:50’ awareness program to mark the initiation of the cleanliness drive.
The district-level event was attended by administrative heads and teachers from various government institutions, agencies, local bodies, and representatives from political parties who have come together to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness across the district.
Speaking with the reporters, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, said that ‘Swachhta 50:50’ is a people-oriented initiative that promotes a clean and healthy environment.
She further added that government departments, schools, and colleges will take up 50 households each to educate them about sanitation, segregation of waste, disposal of garbage to reduce pollution, and other cleanliness-related initiatives. She emphasized that this initiative cannot be successful without the active participation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Every citizen should participate in this movement so that we can keep our cities, towns, and villages clean and green,” said Indu Kanwal Chib while addressing the gathering.
The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora further added that they hope to see positive behavioral changes amongst the people through this initiative.
The officials present at the awareness program have pledged to carry out intensive awareness campaigns and field activities under the ‘Swachhta 50:50’ campaign to promote cleanliness and environmental sustainability in the district.
The District Administration Bandipora feels optimistic that ‘Swachhta 50:50’ will contribute to improving sanitation and developing a sustainable and healthy environment in Bandipora.(KINS)
