Baramulla Police arrests drug peddler; Contraband substance seized


February 13: Police in its recent action against drug dealings in district Baramulla arrested a drug peddler and seized contraband substance from his possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Chanpora in the jurisdiction of Police Station Tangmarg, intercepted an Alto vehicle bearing registration number JK05H-5104 with one person on board. Officers during checking have been able to recover 1100 grams of Charas powder from his possession. He has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Khan resident of Zaspora, Tangmarg.

A case FIR No. 09/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Tangmarg. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Tangmarg where he remains in custody. Officers have also seized the vehicle used in the peddling of drugs.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
