Awantipora police destroys illegal poppy cultivation

Srinagar, May 17 (KINS): Continuing its efforts to root out the menace of drugs, Police Sunday said it has launched extensive drive to destroy illegal poppy cultivation in Awantipora.

According to police statement issued to news agency KINS, Police parties of P/S Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora along with Tehsildar Awantipora destroyed poppy cultivation spread over 04 Kanals of land in Reshipora area of Awantipora.

“General public of the area have appreciated the action of joint team and have urged the authorities to continue this drive in nearby areas also.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law”.(KINS
