Jawahar Nagar Gurduwar theft be probed at highest level, security of all Gurdurwaras should be heightened: Jagmohan Singh Raina

Srinagar, May 30 (KINS): A top Sikh leader today while reacting sharply to what he termed “as suspicious death” of a Sikh man from Jammu, who was found hanging from a tree at Nipora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, demanded an impartial probe and said that “the death seems to be a murder and not a suicide.”
Chairman All Party Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) Jagmohan Singh Raina told news agency KINS that the body of one Ravinder Singh son of Devender Singh of Jammu was found along with a rope around his throat with feet touching the ground at Nipora, Kulgam.
“Suicide is not committed this way. If he committed suicide, his entire body should have been hanging from the tree, which is not the case. His feet were touching the ground and rope was in his throat seemingly to present it as a suicide case. His death is suspicious and we demand impartial probe into it,” Raina said.
“We demand, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team must visit the spot and a separate dog squad must be made part of special investigation team to nail the truth as it seems to be a murder than a suicide.”
Similarly, the Sikh leader also demanding a separate probe into the Gurduwara theft case stating that cash was looted from the Gurdurwara in Jawahar Nagar area in Srinagar in the dead of the night.
“FSL team should be called to take samples and made part of the probe. I appreciate that police officers visited the Gurduwara in the morning and a case has been lodged and inquiry ordered. There should be a time bound probe and that all Guruduwara should be kept under surveillances especially during nights,” he said adding that Kashmir is a sensitive place and a single incident can trigger a communal flare up which can take an ugly turn. He said there seems to be a hand of “drug addicts in the theft” but major concern is that “no other mischief should happen” which can trigger communal frenzy.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that in the intervening night of 29/30 -05-20, burglars entered into Gurdwara Jawahar Nagar and decamped with some cash. They have broken open a wooden safe in the Gurdwara and looted some cash.
The main Currency Vault (Iron Safe) could not be opened by the burglars and is intact. One mahant and a watcher were stationed at the Gurdwara during the night. “SP South Sajad Ahmad along with SDPO Sadder Dr. Azhar Rashid and SHO Rajbagh Insp. Sameer Ahmad visited the spot immediately along with FSL Team and dog squad. FSL has been called and evidences like finger prints and foot prints have been obtained. Further all entry and exit routes to the Gurdwara are being searched for evidences,” the spokesman said, adding that CCTV footage has been obtained and other corroborating CCTV footages are being obtained around the area. “Suspects in the case are being tracked down by the investigating team in a very professional manner.
In this regard a case FIR No 42 of 2020 stands registered in PS Rajbagh,” he said.(KINS)
