Illegal sand mining : Police arrests 18 persons in Baramulla

Srinagar, July 05(KINS): Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested 18 persons who were involved in illegal sand mining in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Police in a statement issued to KINS said, Acting on an information of illegal sand mining from river Jhelum at Baramulla, police in a swift action today arrested 18 persons and also seized four tractors and one tipper on spot at Khojbagh area when they were found illegally extracting and loading sand from river Jhelum.

In this regard case FIR no106/2020 u/s 188,379,447,427IPC stands regestered in 𝑷𝑶𝑳𝑰𝑪𝑬 Station Baramulla and investigation taken up.

Police Baramulla is also requesting people living adjacent to the mining areas of river Jhelum to kindly pass information of illegal sand extraction from river Jhelum to police.
