Residents of Khag Budgam seek setting up of JK Bank branch, ATM

Srinagar July 09 (KINS): Residents of Tehsil Khag in Budgam district have demanded setting up of a 2nd  J&K Bank branch and ATM at Khag tehsil headquarter.

“Khag which is Tehsil headquarter comprising of 70 villages with a population of about 80,000 is in need another branch of J&K at Tehsil headquarter and another ATM facility,” Mushtaq Ahmad Malik, a local of Khag told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).

Residents said J&K Bank branch Khag is not able to cater the needs of people, as presently the single branch where one can see the long queues of consumers from dawn to dusk and elderly people and women customers are facing lot of problems while waiting for the turn near the counters of the bank.

Presently Khag tehsil is having more than 50 offices of different departments including tehsil office, CD Block, Higher Secondary School, Middle Schools, Hospital and some other govt institutions.

“Presently we have only one ATM facility of J&K Bank branch Khag which is not able to cater the needs of people sometimes due to technical snag or other issue with the machine we have to travel for 16 KM to distance for ATM facility, We had approached higher authorities many times, but no action was taken,” residents said.

“So there is urgent an urgent need for providing another branch of J&K Bank and ATM facility near CD Block Khag, so that sufferings of people will end. The residents request the LG and chairman J&K Bank to sanction 2nd branch and another ATM facility for the people of Khag at Khag tehsil headquarter,” they said.

Meanwhile, a senior official of JK Bank said the residents should approach the concerned cluster head of the bank. “They have to write an application and cluster head will forward it to concerned authorities and their problem will get solved,” the official added. (KINS)
