Colleges, universities to reopen after vaccinating students, J&K LG

Srinagar, Sep 1 (KINS ) Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said on Wednesday that colleges and universities will reopen after vaccinating students.

We are considering to reopen all colleges and universities once students above the age of 18 years are vaccinated, Mr Sinha told reporters on the sideline of a function at S K International Convention Centre (SKICC) on the bank of famed Dal Lake.

Sinha said the administration was fully aware about the demand of parents who wanted reopening of all educational institutions. “We are planning to open colleges and universities this month only after vaccinating all the students above 18-years-of age,” he said.

He said after reopening of colleges and universities, the government will take a decision on reopening of primary and secondary schools.

In reply to a question about security situation in the Kashmir valley, Lt Governor said our security forces are capable of facing all challenges. However, he said, security situation has witnessed considerable improvement though challenges are there.
