Chinar Corps congrats Kashmir Super- 50

Srinagar, 05 Oct ( KINS) In order to provide a platform for the underprivileged yet talented students of the Valley, the Chinar Corps in collaboration with Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL), a Delhi based NGO, conceptualised an initiative in 2013 to set up a free residential coaching programme for IITs/Engineering entrance exams. The project was named as Kashmir

Super-30 (Engineering) and had commenced in June 2013.

Initially, Power Grid India, Rural Electrification Council and Tata Relief Committee, under their Corporate Social Responsibility, funded the programme. Since 2016-17, Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) is providing complete budgetary support for Kashmir Super- 30 (Engineering).

The performances of the students in entrance exams for premier engineering colleges have been consistent over the years. Excluding the current 2021 batch, a total of 243 students have undergone coaching programme. The admission secured by these students reflects the success of Kashmir Super 30 (Engineering), which was renamed as Kashmir Super-50 (Engineering) programme in 2017. Till date, 16 students have secured admissions to IITs, 09 students in IIITs, 58 students in various NITs and 135 students have taken up admission in other prestigious Engineering Colleges.

A total of 50 students of the present batch (2020-2021) appeared for JEE(Main)-2021 examination, out of which seven students have cleared the examination with over 90% and 20 students have scored between 70% to 90%.

Inadequacy of quality education, mentoring faculty and infrastructure are major disadvantage for students hailing from non-urban, semi-rural and rural areas who aspire for higher education qualifications at the national level.  Indian Army had undertaken the Kashmir Super-50 (Engineering) initiative to enable these students to prepare and qualify various Engineering entrance exams.( KINS)
