Rally marks observance of ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ at Anantnag

 

ANANTNAG,  Oct  30  ( KINS): A big rally was taken out in connection with observance of ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ at Shangus block of Anantnag.

Students, teachers and social activists participated in the rally.

Holding placards, the students chanted slogans against corruption and highlighted the need for promoting transparency in the administrative and governance setup.

While addressing the rally, the District Vigilance Officer, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh threw light on the availability of legal tools which a common citizen can make use of to discourage corruption and promote transparency in the administrative system.

He said the Right to Information Act and Public Services Guarantee Act can be made use of to make public authorities accountable. He said these legal interventions help a common man in exposing corrupt practices and identifying unscrupulous officials.

Sheikh said that joint efforts need to be strengthened to bring complete transparency in the system.  He said corruption is the biggest obstacle in promoting faster socio- economic growth of the country.

The Chief Education Officer, Mohammed Sharif also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the need of fighting corruption through legal- administrative interventions.( KINS)
