Srinagar, Jan 13: In a significant move aimed at providing financial security to the Casual Paid Labourers (CPL) engaged by the Border Roads Organization (BRO), Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has given his nod to the launch of a comprehensive Group (Term) Insurance Scheme. The scheme ensures that the families of CPL, in the unfortunate event of their death, will receive an insured value of Rs 10 lakh.

The decision comes as a part of the government’s commitment to addressing the welfare of the workforce engaged in crucial infrastructure projects, especially those contributing to the development of border areas. Casual Paid Labourers often undertake challenging tasks in harsh terrains, playing a vital role in the construction and maintenance of strategic roads and infrastructure.

The insurance scheme is designed to provide financial support to the families of CPL, acknowledging their contributions and the risks associated with their work.

This initiative underscores the government’s recognition of the sacrifices and hard work put in by the labour force involved in crucial national projects. The Defence Minister emphasized that the welfare of every individual contributing to the nation’s progress is of paramount importance, and this insurance scheme is a step towards ensuring their well-being. The move has been welcomed by various stakeholders, including labor unions and welfare organizations, applauding the government’s commitment to the welfare of its workforce.
