KPDCL Cracks Down on Power Theft in Kilam, Kulgam: Seizes Unauthorized Heavy Appliances

Kulgam Correspondent
Srinagar, Jan 23: Following reports of unscheduled power cuts in Kilam village, the Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) conducted a surprise inspection in the Kilam area of Devsar. The inspection aimed to curb power theft and address the issues leading to inadequate power supply in the region.
An inspection team, organized by KPDCL Sub-division Qazigund under the supervision of Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), was deployed to Kilam. The team’s objective was to put an end to electricity theft and ensure a consistent and proper electricity supply in the area.
During the inspection, unauthorised heavy electrical appliances were identified and promptly seized. The decisive action taken during the surprise inspection resulted in a significant reduction of 70 amps in load, leading to an immediate improvement in power supply to the Kilam area. Additionally, disruptions in power supply were automatically eliminated.
Addressing the situation, AEE KPDCL Division Qazigund emphasized the positive impact of the surprise inspection. He stated, “There will be no unscheduled power outages if customers use electricity judiciously.” This underscores the importance of responsible electricity usage by customers in maintaining a stable and uninterrupted power supply in the region.
The KPDCL’s proactive measures reflect a commitment to curbing power theft and ensuring a reliable power infrastructure, ultimately benefiting the residents of Kilam and surrounding areas in Kulgam.
