Unscheduled power cuts irk Bemina residents

Srinagar, Nov 9: The residents of Bemina M. I G Colony today accused the Power Development Department of resorting to unscheduled power cuts in the area.
“In past three days, our area has faced several power cuts.We will be forced to stage protests if power supply is not provided to us as per the schedule. Our children are unable to prepare for examinations due to unscheduled power curtailments,” said Habib- Ullah a resident of MIG colony.
Kashmir Indepth received complaints from majority of the people of the area that the power supply remains off for hours every day. “The power cuts are so frequent that it’s difficult to count the hours of supply we get. Tentatively we get some six hours of power a day,” complained Showkat Ahmad residing in same colony.
“Basically, there’s no curtailment schedule in place. The power is expected to be off during curtailment but afterwards we face more of unscheduled cuts,” said Bilal Ahmad and accused the government of deliberately victimizing the residents of the area.
