Bandipora, 25 Jan: The locals of Quil Muqam and its adjoining areas in North Kashmir’s Bandipora are facing lot of problems because of non-availability of J&K Bank in Quilmuqam area which has emerged as a major area of the district.
The residents from Malangam, Turkpora, Onagam, Muqam, Reshwari, Paribal, Mangnipora areas told that the area has been always discriminated in terms of facilities which have been provided to far flung areas. “We are facing immense hardships because of non-availability of the J&K Bank here.”
“We have to travel 10 Kms for a simple cash withdrawal or for depositing cash”, locals told this reporter. “We are facing immense hardships due to the non-availability of a JK Bank branch here in the area”, they added.
In absence of the banking facilities, residents lag behind as they are unaware about various schemes which provide employment opportunities for the unemployed youth.
A group of students from Quil and Malangam said that they face lot of problems whenever “we need to deposit the admission fee”. “It is very difficult to reach Bandipora market for fee submission for its difficult terrain,” the students said.
The locals said that Quilmuqam is situated at a central location in the area which connects Sopore, Aloosa, Malangam and other far flung areas, however, “it has been discriminated on many fronts”.
