Srinagar police conducts market checking

May 29: Police parties of Srinagar Police accompanied by the concerned Executive Magistrates and representatives of CAPD and other concerned departments conducted surprise market checking in Nowgam and Lal Bazar markets of Srinagar.

The checking was aimed to ensure that good quality products are available to the consumers besides to curb black marketing and profiteering of essential commodities and to keep vigil on erring shopkeepers. Erring shopkeepers and vendors were fined on spot by the executive magistrates and other concerned departments. Also rotten vegetables and fruits were removed from the shelves.

Srinagar police reiterates that such drives will be conducted on routine basis so that quality of commodities is ensured. We urge shopkeepers not to violate the rules besides display the rate lists at their respective shops.

Locals appreciated the act and hoped such drives would continue in future as well.
