2 militants killed in Tral

Pulwama: Two militants were killed in an encounter with government forces in Nanar area of Tral in Pulwama district on Friday.

A senior police officer told  said the joint team of forces launched the cordon following specific inputs about the presence of some militants. “The joint team while zeroing in a suspected spot and fired some warning shots, the hiding militants tried to break the cordon. However, the forces engage them triggering off a fierce gun battle”.

During the course of gunfight, two militants have been killed and their bodies have been recovered along with some arms and ammunition, the officer said.

He said that the identities of the slain duo and group affiliation are being ascertained.
