BBBP Week: Programme in memory of Late Atiqa Bano held at Sopore

BARAMULLA, JANUARY 02: As part of the week long Beti Bacho Beti Padho (BBBP)Program being celebrated throughout the district, a special program in memory of renowned educationist cum social activist late Atiqa Bano was today organized here at Government Degree College, Sopore.

On the occasion the contributions of Atiqa Bano were remembered through different activities including a mushaira in which renowned poets of the district participated. The participants read the literary works of AtiqaBano and paid their rich tributes for her social activism more especially her role towards women empowerment.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr GN Itoo who was the chief guest on the occasion highlighted the imminent and proactive role played by the educationist towards the betterment of society. Deputy Commissioner also complimented the participants and said that effective implementation of BBBP has always remained in his priority areas. He said that various initiatives have been taken on the part of district administration for educating and empowering a girl child.

Meanwhile various cultural items including a skit was presented by the students which evoked applaud from the audience.

ADC Sopore, Ashiq Hussain Lilly, Principal GDC Sopore, DPO Baramulla, Showket Ahmad Showket, BDC chairpersons, PRI’s, Civil Society members besides students and Asha workers were present on the occasion.
