Police Version over arrest of militant his associate in Baramulla

Police Baramulla received input from reliable sources about the movement of some militants in the General area Uri.


Consequently, various NAKA’S on multiple points and stops were established by the joint forces of Police Baramulla 18 Maratha and 53 Battalion CRPF. One such NAKA was established at NS Bridge Uri towards Hathlanga side. At around 1530 hrs, two suspected persons were coming from SaidaPora towards Uri. On seeing the NAKA checking party, they tried to flee away from the spot in a suspicious manner. The NAKA party tactfully and bravely without caring for their lives caught both of them.

On preliminary enquiry they disclosed their names as, Zubair Ahmad Tantry@ AbuBakar S/o Gh Mohammad Tantry R/o Baharampora Sopore, who is an active Militant of LeT outfit and his associate namely Bilal Ahmad Rather S/o Gh Mohammad Rathere R/o Sahura Uri. On their personal search a huge catch of arms and ammunitions and other incriminating material was recovered.


To this effect Case FIR No 49/2020, under various provisions of Indian Arms Act, Indian Explosives Act and Unlawful Activity (Prevention) Act stands registered in Police Station Uri and investigation has been started.
