Awantipora police destroys illegal poppy cultivation over 35 kanals

Srinagar, May 27 (KINS): Continuing its efforts to root out the menace of drugs, Police here said that it has launched extensive drive to destroy illegal poppy cultivation in Awantipora.

According to police statement issued to news agency KINS,”Police party from Police Station Awantipora under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora destroyed illegal poppy cultivation spread over more than 05 kanals of land in Hariparigam area of Awantipora.

Similarly, Police party from Police Station Khrew under the supervision of DySP Pampore destroyed illegal poppy cultivation spread over more than 30 kanals of land in Shar Shali Khrew area of Awantipora”.

General public of the area have appreciated the action of police and have urged to continue such drive in nearby areas also.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law,”.(KINS)
