Civilian, CRPF man killed in Sopore militant attack

Srinagar June 1: A civilian and a CRPF person were killed while three CRPF men were injured after militants attacked a party of paramilitary CRPF on Wednesday morning in North Kashmir’ Sopore town.


An official told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service that militants attacked a party of CRPF near model town Sopore.

“One civilian and a CRPF man were killed. Three CRPF men have also sustained injuries,” the official added.


Eyewitness said a police party once reached to the spot rescued a three-year- old boy, whose father got killed in crossfiring.


“He (boy) was wailing on the body of father who had received bullets. A police person carried the baby in his lap and took away,” they said.

An official confirmed to KINS the incident and identified slain CRPF personnel as Dipchand Verma.

While as the injured CRPF personnel have been identified as constable Bhoya Rajesh, constable Deepak Patil and Nilesh Chawde.(KINS)
