Police arrests 2 drug peddlers in Awantipora

Srinagar, July 19: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers in south Kashmir’s Awantipora and recovered a large number of illegal drugs from their procession.

In a statement, police said one person namely Adil Shafi Mir resident of Bemina Toheedabad was arrested near Nambal Naka Awantipora when he was travelling in a vehicle Tata Tigor and during the search of the said vehicle 31 grams of herion was recovered from the person boarding in the said vehicle.vehicle bearing registration number JK01AE-4877 used in the commission of the said crime has also been seized.
Case FIR Number 94/2020 under relevant sections of NDPS law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora.

In another incident Police party on naka duty at Tulbagh Pampore found 01 person moving in suspicious circumstances and was stopped for checking.During checking,the person was found to be carrying/ possessing poppy (about 09 Kgs in weight) in a bag.
The person namely Manzoor Ahmad Rather resident of Tulbagh Pampore has been arrested.
Case FIR number 53/2020 under relevant sections of NDPS stands registered against the said arrested person in Police Station Pampore.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly under law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
