Police arrests notorious drug peddler in Awantipora

Srinagar, Aug 14 (KINS): The police Friaday said that it arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered a huge quantity of contraband substance from the possession of the arrested person.

According to police statement issued to news agency KINS, during vehiclar checking by Police Naka party at village Hariparigam Awantipora,police party intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK13A-3999 and during search of the said vehicle huge quantity of poppy straw(grinded fukki) weighing about 77 kgs was recovered from the car. The person who was carrying/ transporting the said consignment and driving the car has been arrested and identified as Gulzar Ahmad Bhat resident of Naibugh Tral.

The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

According, case FIR No. 107/2020 under relevant sections of NDPS has been registered in Police Station Awantipora.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.(KINS)
