COVID-19 recovery rate crosses 72 pct; Over 3 crore tests conducted so far in India: Health Ministry

Srinagar, Aug 17 (KINS): The Union Health Ministry Monday said that the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 26 lakh 47 thousand 664.


The Health Ministry also said that there has been a spike of 57 thousand 982 cases and 941 deaths were reported in India in the last 24 hours while the number of active cases stand at 6 lakh 76 thousand 900 active cases.


According to news agency KINS, India has reported the highest single day recoveries of 57,584. “The overall recovery rate from Covid -19 has crossed 72 per cent. The recoveries surged to 19 lakh 19 thousand 8 hundred 42. The death toll due to coronavirus infection climbed to 50 thousand 9 hundred 21. The case fatality rate has declined to 1.92 per cent” the health ministry said. 


The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said it has so far tested three crore forty one thousand and four hundred COVID-19 samples across India. “Of these 7 lakh 31 thousand 697 coronavirus tests were conducted yesterday alone” it said.(KINS)
