SRINAGAR, August 17(KINS): Grand Mufti Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Nasir ul Islam Monday said disrespecting Prophet (PBUH) won’t be tolerated and appealed people to hold peaceful protests after prayers on the upcoming Friday.

“No Muslim will tolerate any derogatory language against our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Muslims can’t remain silent against disrespecting our Prophet. Strict action should be taken against those persons who have spoken against our Prophet,” Grand Mufti told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).

“I appeal to everyone to hold a peaceful protest after prayers on the upcoming Friday against this act,” he added.

Jammu Police on Sunday registered a case after the video went viral on social media in which a leader of Bharat Raksha Manch is seen speaking in derogatory language Prophet (PBUH).

Assuring strict legal action against those who created or shared such content, a police spokesperson said the video seemed to have been “maliciously posted to create communal tension”.

IGP Jammu, Mukesh Singh said police have lodged FIR No. 100 under sections 153-A and 295-A IPC in police station Pacca Danga and have arrested two persons including the one who had used the derogatory words.(KINS)
