Handwara, August 19: Police on late Wednesday said a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant commander is among the two militants killed in Handwara gunfight.
A police officer told KINS that two militants killed in brief exchange of gunfire at Handwara have been identified as Naseeruddin a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant commander and his associate a Pak resident.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of police Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar in a tweet said that LeT commander Naseeruddin lone was involved in killing of three CRPF men at Sopore on 18/4/2020 and also was behind the killing of three CRPF personnel who were killed in Handwara attack on 04/05/2020 he added.
Meanwhile, Army in a statement said Kralgund, Handwara Joint operation was launched on late Wednesday evening in the orchards of Ganipora. Cordon was laid and contact established. Firefight ensued. Two militants killed.
Pertinently, This was the second gunfight in a day, earlier a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militant was killed in an encounter between security forces and militants in Molu Chitragam area of Shopian district
