Awantipora Police arrests a person impersonating as ACB official


Srinagar, Nov 13 (KINS): Awantipora police Friday said that it arrested a person impersonating as an Anti-Corruption Bureau Official.
Awantipora Police in a statement issued to news agency KINS said that it received a complaint from a resident of village Dadsara area of Tral that a person stopped him while he was driving a car near Toll Plaza Awantipora and introduced himself as Anti Corruption Bureau Official.
“He further stated that after searching my car he also asked for my phone number. Later on, during evening hours he called on my phone number with the intention to extort money from me.
Acting swiftly on this complaint, Awantipora Police taking aid of modern technique were able to identify the person as Mohammad Amin Wani resident of Zafron Colony Pantha Chowk and subsequently arrested him from Pampore area”.
“A case FIR number 164/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated.
General public are requested not to fall prey in the hands of such fraudulent people. Police have resolved to act tough against inimical elements. Locals of the area lauded the role and prompt action of police”. (KINS)
