DPEO reviews arrangements for Phase-V in Kupwara


KUPWARA, DECEMBER 08: District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) Kupwara, Anshul Garg today reviewed the arrangements for phase-V of District Development Council (DDC) election and Panchayat by-election being held on 10 December, 2020.
The DPEO said that 02 DDC constituencies viz. Qadirabad and Rajwar are scheduled to undergo polls in phase-V during which Trehgam, partly Qadirabad, Handwara and Rajwar blocks will be covered.
He said that all arrangements including security, transport and other relevant arrangements have been put in place for smooth conduct of election.
According to the DPEO, 28 DDC candidates (15 for Qadirabad and 13 for Rajwar constituencies), 09 Sarpanch and 95 Panch are in fray for the elections.
He further said that 64,104 voters including 33,241 male and 30,860 female besides 03 others are going to exercise their franchise in these constituencies.
The DPEO said that 124 polling stations (67 in Qadirabad and 57 in Rajwar) have been established for which 499 presiding and polling officers have been detailed on duty.
The DPEO also said that adequate security of contesting candidates and polling booths and staff has already beefed up and all arrangements have been put in place to ensure the election smoothly
