Authorities impose penalties on FBOs at Anantnag

ANANTNAG, JULY 09( KINS) : The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag, Gulzar Ahmad who is also Adjudicating Officer for the district under Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, today imposed a penalty of Rs 455000 on various Food Business Operators (FBOs) for violating different provisions of the Act, here.

It was informed that the cases were filed by the Food Safety Officers against 20 FBOs for manufacturing and sale of substandard and misbranded products, not obtaining license/ registration besides violating Good Hygienic, Good Manufacturing practices as mandated in Schedule 04 of the Act.

During the trial of the cases, the ADC directed the Food Business Operators to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Act and desist from such illegal acts in future. He also called for creating awareness among the stakeholders to implement the FSSA in letter and spirit for the benefit of both FBOs and consumers.

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Designated Officer for the district, Zameer Ahmad reteirated to enforce the Act fully on ground and appealed to the manufacturers/sellers to ensure compliance in this regard. ( KINS)
