Kulgam Police Crackdown on Illegal Mining: 22 Arrested, 24 Vehicles Seized

Srinagar, Jan 29: In an effort to combat illegal river and nallah bed mining, safeguarding the river Veshaw and other water bodies from degradation and potential flooding, Kulgam Police conducted a series of operations against illegal mining activities. Under the supervision of SSP Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal-IPS, multiple police teams carried out raids, patrols, and checkpoint inspections.
As a result, 22 individuals were arrested, and 24 vehicles (including 15 tractors, 7 dumpers, 1 tipper, and 1 JCB machine) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of sand, gravel, boulders, and other minerals were seized. Various FIRs have been filed across police stations in the district, and investigations are ongoing.
Citizens are urged to report any illegal extraction activities by calling *Dial-112*. Kulgam Police emphasizes that stringent legal actions will be taken against anyone found guilty of these offenses.
