PM Modi Challenges Congress: Bring Back Article 370, Says Terrorism and Separatism No Longer Election Issues

Srinagar, Apr 12: In a fiery address at a poll rally in Udhampur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi challenged opposition parties, particularly the Congress, to openly declare their stance on reinstating Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
He asserted that the era of using terrorism, separatism, and stone throwing as election fodder in the region is over.
Modi highlighted the dismantling of the Article 370 barrier, which he claimed had kept Jammu and Kashmir isolated from the rest of the nation for decades. He criticized political entities in the region for attempting to revert to outdated politics, contrasting it with the progress achieved under his government’s leadership.
Furthermore, he pointed out the tangible benefits of abrogating Article 370, citing the restoration of rights for women, Dalits, and Valmikis in the region. Modi also touted the significant decline in terrorism and separatism since 2014, asserting that these issues no longer dominate election discourse.
The Prime Minister emphasized the improved security situation, noting the successful organization of religious pilgrimages like the Vaishno Devi and Amarnath yatras. He promised continued development and prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir in the coming years.(kno)
