Srinagar, Aug 15: In a welcome relief from the recent heatwave, Kashmir experienced refreshing showers on Thursday, providing much-needed respite to residents who had been enduring unusually high temperatures over the past few weeks.
The rainfall led to a notable drop in temperatures across the region, including in Srinagar Anantnag, Baramulla, and Kupwara.
Meanwhile in the past 24 hours, Jammu Division has also seen heavy rainfall at many locations, while Kashmir Division has experienced light to moderate rain.
Forecast:
August 15:Light to moderate rain and thundershowers expected across most of J&K.
August 16-20:Light to moderate rain and thundershowers likely at many places, primarily during late night and early morning hours.
Advisory
There is a potential for intense showers and heavy rainfall in Jammu Division, which could lead to flash floods, landslides, and mudslides in vulnerable areas over the next five days. Additionally, waterlogging in low-lying areas and a rise in water levels in the Tawi and other flood channels of Jammu Division are anticipated.
