Srinagar, Sep 04 (KINS): Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat today to review flood preparedness and response strategies for Jammu & Kashmir. He commended the Divisional and District administrations for their proactive measures but emphasized the need for continued coordination and advance planning.
Dulloo called for the development of effective strategies and standard operating procedures (SoPs) to ensure that every individual is aware of their roles in emergencies. He stressed the importance of keeping zonal level Committees well-trained and informed, and called for an updated Decision Support System supported by a Digital Risk Database to aid in coordinated response efforts.
The Chief Secretary also highlighted the necessity of detailed flood mapping, advanced resource mobilization, and proper planning. He requested a review of stock levels of flood mitigation items and urged for mock exercises involving all relevant departments.
Administrative Secretaries and department heads briefed the meeting on their respective preparations, including health, sanitation, and emergency response measures. The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Additional Chief Secretary of Jal Shakti, Principal Secretary of DMRRR, and various other senior officers.(KINS)
