Srinagar, Sep 19 (KINS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced his visit to Jammu and Kashmir today, expressing excitement over the enthusiasm shown by the people in the first phase of Assembly elections.
In a message on X, PM Modi stated, “I look forward to being among the people of Jammu and Kashmir today. Will address a rally in Srinagar and Katra.”
He also noted the strong turnout witnessed the previous day, emphasizing the vibrant democratic process taking place in J&K.
“Yesterday’s turnout has shown that the people of J&K are very enthusiastic about the elections and are keen to make the poll process vibrant,” he added.
During his visit, the Prime Minister is expected to outline the government’s development agenda for the region and seek the people’s support.
“It will be a very big rally, and people here are excited to listen to him,” said a senior BJP leader.
Besides the rally, the Prime Minister will meet with party workers and candidates to boost their morale for the elections.
As per the news agency KINS, strict security measures have been implemented to ensure the event goes smoothly.
The area around the rally venue has been secured with multiple layers of security. “We have made a multi-tier security arrangement for the VVIP visit as per the Standard Operating Procedure laid down for such events,” said a top police official.
A large number of police and paramilitary personnel have been stationed throughout the city and nearby areas, with the highest level of security around the rally site.
Officials say snipers and sharpshooters are positioned in nearby buildings to monitor the surroundings.
This will be PM Modi’s first rally for BJP candidates in Kashmir before the assembly elections later this month.
It is also his third visit to Kashmir this year. He previously visited in March for a rally at Bakshi Stadium and again in June for a Yoga celebration at SKICC.
The BJP has fielded 19 candidates in Kashmir, leaving some seats open for ‘like-minded’ independent candidates and allied parties.
This rally is seen as a key step in strengthening the BJP’s presence in the Valley. “PM Modi has a good support base, so his campaign will definitely bring votes for the party,” said a BJP leader from Jammu and Kashmir.(KINS)
