Srinagar, Nov 08 (KINS): On the fifth day of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, BJP MLAs continues its demonstration against the National Conference’s (NC) recently passed resolution on restoring special status to the Union Territory.
Each BJP member wore the tricolor around their necks as a symbol of their opposition.
The protests coincided with the ruling party’s discussions on the motion of thanks for the Lieutenant Governor’s address.
News agency KINS reported that the tensions in the assembly escalated dramatically when PDP MLA Fayaz Mir, joined by leaders Sajad Lone, Langate MLA, and MLA Waheed Para, unfurled a banner reading, “Unconditional restoration of Article 370.” This move, advocating for the reinstatement of the special constitutional status once granted to Jammu and Kashmir, sparked an immediate response from the BJP MLAs, who stormed into the assembly well, confronting the opposition leaders.
The assembly turned chaotic, prompting marshals to intervene and escort several BJP MLAs out to restore order.
Undeterred, BJP members resumed their protest in Assembly, remaining resolute in their stance against any reconsideration of Article 370.
Later the other BJP MLAs headed by opposition leader Sunil Sharma walked out from the Assembly.(KINS)
